Short Stay Admission

The Heart of Hastings Hospice is proud to be able to offer residents of the local communities beds to those who have life limiting illnesses but are not qualified for immediate Hospice admittance. This is done on a case by case basis that also depends on the availability of rooms at the hospice at the time.

Short Stay Admissions are designed to support individuals and caregivers during times of increased need. These goal-focused admissions help stabilize symptoms, provide caregiver relief, and support safe transitions - with the warmth and compassion of hospice care.

Each stay is carefully planned with a clear focus on comfort, learning, and support, while working toward a safe return home or transition to the next appropriate level of care.

Reasons for admission include short-term stabilization, transitional care, caregiver support and education, and caregiver relief and respite.

Requirements for admission are the client has a life limiting diagnosis, client is currently on the Hospice Residence List or a part of our Community Hospice Program, an assessment has been completed by our Hospice Residence Manager or Community Community Hospice Program Coordinator, and their caregiver must be able to supply client food and personal hygiene items.
